Their live shows brought her to the attention of Kane Massey, who had promoted gigs featuring The Twelve Tribes. In late 1991 Kane included Issa as part of the line-up for the debut release on his fledgling label, Deepgrooves, a compilation also called Deepgrooves.

Her track, ‘Dangerous Game’ – produced by Issa with Mark Tierney and Joost Langeveld who played bass on it – was a funky downtempo reworking of a NZ reggae underground classic from the 1980s band Diatribe.

The song was then released as a single on Deepgrooves the following year and the remixed version picked up radio play from London dance station Kiss FM. She was nominated for Most Promising Female Vocalist at the NZ Music Awards in 1993.

Issa worked with producers Andy ‘Submariner’ Morton, Phil Fuemana and Anthony Ioasa on several more singles, leading up to her 1995 mini-album Found In You which featured seven original songs and three dub versions.

She departed Deepgrooves after that release, but has continued working in music since then, mainly in the live arena.
