Evermore
The three teenaged Hume brothers from Feilding – Jon, Peter and Dann – came to the attention of the New Zealand music industry when, as the band Evermore, they won the 2000 Smokefree Secondary School Rockquest. They quickly found success with airplay, sales and awards in New Zealand and Australia, and over time established long-term musical career paths as a group and individually.
For years to come, the group’s publicity would mention rural Feilding and the fact that they were home-schooled, evoking an idyllic pastoral upbringing that fitted in nicely with the worldview of New Zealand as the film location for The Lord Of The Rings. (The band name came from Led Zeppelin’s 1971 acoustic classic, ‘The Battle Of Evermore’ – a song inspired by JRR Tolkien’s Rings trilogy.)
